‘Outstanding’ Tottenham player says yes to joining Champions League club

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy in the transfer market this summer, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has laid some solid foundations in his maiden season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he’ll be eager to build on them.

Incomings will need to be balanced out by outgoings, and there are certainly several players who seem surplus to requirements at Spurs.

Now, it looks as though one such player at Tottenham has agreed to join a club set to compete in the Champions League next season.

The player in question is Emerson Royal and, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, he has ‘said yes’ to joining AC Milan this summer.

Milan also want the Spurs man to join, and the report says it’s a ‘great premise’ for talks between Spurs and the Nerazzurri over the player.

Emerson Royal likely to leave Tottenham this summer

Emerson has had a difficult couple of years at Spurs since his move from Barcelona, with some fans and pundits routinely calling for him to be sold.

Jamie O’Hara went as far as calling him a ‘liability’ and even claimed he would ‘give you £5million to get rid’ of Emerson last season.

Although Postecoglou praised Emerson earlier this season, lauding his “outstanding” attitude and demeanour, he sadly hasn’t kicked on.

The Brazilian is a good player, but sadly it hasn’t worked out for him at Tottenham. That’s not to say he won’t be a success elsewhere, mind.

Milan finished second in 2023/24 and won the Serie A title just two years ago, so it shows how talented Emerson is if they want him.

Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks. Hopefully Tottenham can recoup a decent fee for Emerson and reinvest in their squad ahead of their return to European competition.
