Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has struggled for minutes under Antonio Conte this season – but he is surely in line for a start against Bournemouth after Wednesday’s display.
The 21-year-old has only been used on three occasions by Conte during the current campaign, with all of them coming from the bench in the Champions League.
But Gil has put in promising displays in his last two outings, particularly against Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday night.
The ‘outstanding’ youngster replaced Matt Doherty in the 70th minute during Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Ruben Amorim’s men. And Gil looked like a real bright spark for Spurs as he tried to make things happen for Conte’s side.
With a trip to the south coast just around the corner, it seems be the right time to give the Spaniard a chance to impress from the off.

Gil surely in line for start
Conte is currently without both Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison as the pair are sidelined.
The Swedish winger picked up a knock while on international duty last month and hasn’t returned since. While the former Everton forward suffered a calf injury against his old side just 13 days ago.
Lucas Moura got the nod on Wednesday night as Conte switched back to his trusted 3-4-3 system. But the Brazilian failed to impress and looked very rusty on the night after a lengthy spell on the sidelines himself.
But Gil came on and in our opinion, made a real impression during the 20 minutes he was on the pitch.
The Spain U21 international’s first touch looked superior to that of Moura’s and he troubled the Sporting defence with his direct running.

Gil also made an impact against Eintracht Frankfurt from the bench earlier this month. The youngster came on and won a penalty after a mazy run into the box.
Conte seems eager to stick with his 3-4-3 system and after Spurs’ last two Premier League games, you can’t blame him.
But if the Italian does decide to go with this formation, it seems like the right time to give Gil a chance in the side.
With both Kulusevski and Richarlison looking unlikely to return in time for the game against the Cherries, Gil seems to be a better option than Moura right now.
