Report: Tottenham would only sell ‘outstanding’ player for big money, more likely to leave on loan

It would take big money to get playmaker Bryan Gil away from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent basis this summer.

Football.London report that the length of Gil’s contract means that a loan exit is his most likely route out of north London in the current window.

Gil spent the second half of last season on loan with Valencia, where he was described as an ‘outstanding footballer‘ by the media.

That helped put him in the shop window and it remains to be seen how much interest there will be in the Spaniard between now and the window slamming shut.

Tottenham likely to loan out Gil

The report does say that Gil has tried all he can to impress Antonio Conte in pre-season.

He has come back as one of the fittest players in the squad, which will go a long way with the Italian, who is putting his players through a gruelling pre-season.

He was leading the way in the 42 lengths of the pitch Conte had his players running at the end of an open training session.

But despite all that, he is likely to head out on loan this summer if he cannot change Conte’s mind in the friendlies on tour.

There have been links with Sampdoria, with reports that Fabio Paratici has been in talks over sending the midfielder to Serie A.

Marseille can offer Champions League football and have also been rumoured in connection with a loan swoop this summer.

Gil has quality, but there are doubts over his physical capabilities in the Premier League, despite his improved fitness this summer.
