When Tottenham signed Dejan Kulusevski in January, not many people expected him to hit the ground running, let alone outshine a £100 million superstar like Jack Grealish.
Thankfully for Spurs fans and Antonio Conte, that’s exactly what has happened over recent weeks.
Tottenham paid a mere £8.3 million as loan fees to Juventus for Kulusevski. He’ll be on loan in North London until the summer of 2023 but Spurs have an option to make that move permanent for just £25.4 million this summer. (Guardian)
If his recent form is anything to go by, it’s a no-brainer for Tottenham to trigger that clause.
Dejan Kulusevski is outshining £100m superstar Jack Grealish
Since joining Tottenham in January, Kulusevski has played nine times for Tottenham in the Premier League, seven of which have come from the start.
The Swede has scored twice and has assisted four goals already and his work ethic has been absolutely phenomenal on the right flank for Spurs.
City’s marquee summer signing Jack Grealish, on the other hand, has played 19 times in the Premier League since the start of this season, but he’s only been able to score twice and assist two more times.
That, when compared to Kulusevski’s numbers, looks really underwhelming considering that the Tottenham man has played 10 games less than Grealish.

TBR View:
There were a few Tottenham fans sceptical of Dejan Kulusevski’s signing in January after moves for Adama Traore and Ousmane Dembele failed.
However, it is safe to say now that the Swede, branded as ‘outstanding’ by Paul Merson, has won every supporter over and he’s one of the most popular players at the club.
The exciting thing for Tottenham fans is that Kulusevski is still only 21. He has a long way to go before he even gets close to his prime and the fact that he’s already so good is amazing for Spurs.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham will trigger their option to buy him this summer or if they’ll wait until 2023. Either way, they have to make his move permanent, and early signs show he’ll be a top, top player for them.
