'Other clubs are now exploring': Romano claims Spurs could miss out on 'perfect' midfielder unless they act fast

Tottenham Hotspur haven’t enjoyed a great January transfer window so far, to put it mildly.

Spurs went into the window hoping to land several players and move others on.

However, with just three days left, Tottenham haven’t signed anyone or moved anyone on.

There’s been some major disappointment along the way, Spurs missing out on several key targets.

Adama Traore looked set for Tottenham, but he’s now reportedly closing in on Barcelona.

And the Luis Diaz speculation looked strong, but now Liverpool have apparently swooped in.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has urged Spurs to “act fast” on Sofyan Amrabat, or they risk missing out on him too.

“Sofyan Amrabat is a serious possibility for Tottenham,” Romano told Last Word on Spurs today.

“It’s not done, also in this case. They are waiting to complete an outgoing.

“I know that for Tottenham fans it’s not easy to hear these words but this is the reality now.

“Ndombele to PSG, it’s not done yet, so they’re still in negotiations for Ndombele

“And at that point they could be able to compete the Sofyan Amrabat deal.

“They have their proposal ready – loan to buy option for 16m euros.

“But other clubs are now exploring the opportunity.

“Fiorentina don’t want to arrive to deadline day and maybe face the risk of having Amrabat still in their team. They want him to go.

“And so, Fiorentina-side, they are exploring other possibilities for the player, so Tottenham have to be fast.

“You know why they say it’s the domino, it’s really complicated.”

It would be embarrassing for Spurs if they miss out on Amrabat – TBR View

You could perhaps give Tottenham the benefit of the doubt regarding Traore and Diaz.

Both are in-demand players, and when clubs like Barcelona and Liverpool step in, there’s not much they can do.

However, Amrabat has got a mere 214 minutes of first-team action for Fiorentina this term.

He’s very much surplus to requirements and, as Romano said, the Viola “want him to go”.

Amrabat is a player Antonio Conte thinks is “perfect” for him, according to Romano.

In addition, he’s a very realistic target.

So if Spurs mess this one up, it would be nothing short of an embarrassment.
