‘Only way Levy could redeem himself’: Some Tottenham fans react to report of who club want as manager

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting on social media to reports by talkSPORT, claiming some leading club officials still want to hire Paris Saint-Germain head coach Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager.

Spurs are still searching for a new manager after shelving plans for Gennaro Gattuso and Paulo Fonseca. The Italian and Portuguese had emerged as options to replace Jose Mourinho once talks with Antonio Conte collapsed.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo is now in Fabio Paratici’s sights, two months after Daniel Levy fired Mourinho. But some high-ranking figures in north London remain keen on bringing Pochettino back.

Paratici is keen on making Nuno the next Tottenham manager after he turned down an offer from Crystal Palace. He is also now one of the favourites to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Everton after the Italian returned to Real Madrid.

But Paratici is being met with opposition from Spurs officials, who believe PSG boss Pochettino is who the club need. Or failing the Argentine, they should be targeting Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers or Brighton’s Graham Potter.

Levy attempted to rehire Pochettino before advancing negotiations with Conte after admitting it was a mistake to fire him in the first place. But PSG refused to grant his exit, yet have since eyed Zinedine Zidane as a likely replacement.

However, some Tottenham fans reacting on social media believe Pochettino returning is a dream that will not come to light. Instead, they expect Levy and Paratici to continue searching for a suitable and more realistic candidate.

Others, though, are still holding out hope for Pochettino being the next Tottenham manager. That’s because a few believe the Argentine would be the only option Levy can appoint to redeem himself after two wasted months.
