Report explains how Zidane could now help Tottenham get Pochettino
French outlet Le10Sport have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on out-of-work manager Zinedine Zidane this summer. Mauricio Pochettino is still a target for Tottenham – as well as Real Madrid. Zidane is a possible replacement for Pochettino at PSG, if the ex-Spurs man leaves.
Zidane left Real Madrid earlier this summer after failing to stop Atletico Madrid from winning La Liga. It sees Zidane leave Real for the second time as a manager. Pochettino, meanwhile, is still a target for both Real Madrid and Spurs – despite only joining PSG in January. He has two years left.
Le10Sport say that Pochettino is a target for both clubs and that if the Argentine leaves, Zidane could be brought in as his replacement. So, the ex-Real Madrid gaffer could actually end up helping Spurs orchestrate a return to North London for Pochettino.
Could Pochettino really end up at Tottenham, amid Zidane claims?
Now that a move for Antonio Conte has seemingly fallen flat on its face, Spurs are interested in a return for Pochettino – again. But PSG have fought vehemently to keep the Argentine in the dugout. Of course, Pochettino played for PSG – and he will be keen to get a pre-season at the Ligue 1 side.
A return to Tottenham is romantic. But the likelihood is that Spurs will probably go for the likes of Erik Ten Hag, Graham Potter or another manager – rather than an expensive approach to get Pochettino. PSG eyeing Zidane, though, could suggest they are expecting Pochettino’s exit.
