Yves Bissouma only wanted to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer amid interest from elsewhere.
Bissouma is all set to become Spurs’ third signing of the transfer window, with Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster already coming in on free transfers.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Tottenham will pay 29 million euros (£25 million) up front for the Brighton man, with more due in add-ons.
That fee is linked to his dwindling contract, which was due to enter its final year when next season kicks off.
Bissouma only wanted Tottenham move
Bissouma had other interest, with Arsenal recently having been linked, before Tottenham’s interest accelerated and they got the deal done.
Journalist Dean Jones said that there were other clubs keen but it was just Tottenham that Bissouma wanted to join.
He told Give Me Sport: “There was competition to get him but the outcome is helped by the fact Bissouma decided there was only one offer he was interested in accepting; Tottenham’s.
“This early move is a great sign for the fans, to know that they are pushing for deals like this with almost no public fuss. This will be a seriously good signing.”
Tottenham have done some good early business and there could be more to come with the likes of Djed Spence and Christian Eriksen also of interest.
Antonio Conte is not messing around in north London and he wants a squad capable of going where he wants to take the club next term.
Getting the players through the door before Conte starts his notoriously gruelling pre-season programme is key too, rather than leaving it until the last minute before doing a deal at the lowest possible price.
