Jamie Carragher claims Newcastle have ‘one of the best’ players in the league after watching them v Wolves

Newcastle picked up a superb comeback win at Wolves today to go third in the Premier League table and continue their fine start.

The Magpies are unbeaten in the league this season with three wins from four and look to have put a summer of unrest behind them.

Eddie Howe saw his bold half-time subs pay off today as well as his triple change at the break saw his team score twice in the second period to win out.

Harvey Barnes and Fabian Schar got the goals and while that duo played well, it was winger Anthony Gordon who really caught the eye.

The former Everton was superb on the left and Clinton Morrison was left stunned by just how sharp Gordon was on the day.

And following the theme with praise for Gordon, Jamie Carragher has claimed the winger is up there with the very best in his position.

Anthony Gordon told he’s one of the best left wingers in the league

Speaking on Sky about the performance of Gordon during the first half at Molineux, Carragher commented on how easily Gordon was skipping past the Wolves defenders.

And in doing so, he suggested Gordon is one of the best in the league in his position right now.

“He leaves him for dead and it just hits the outside of the post. He is one of the best left-sided players in the Premier League. There is no doubt about that,” Carragher said.

Carragher would love Gordon at Liverpool

Reports over the summer claimed that Gordon was indeed on the Liverpool radar and given it’s Carragher praising him here, you’d imagine the former Red would love Gordon at Anfield.

Right now, as Carragher says here, there are few better than Gordon on that left side in the league and he’s well on his way to being a top player in Europe.

With England now also putting him in from the start, Gordon could go to the next level this season.

And if he does, Newcastle might well sneak into that top four.
