Newcastle fought back from behind to win at Wolves today as they picked up a much-needed win away from home.
Eddie Howe has been keen for his team to put all the noise of the summer behind them and focus purely on results and that’s what his team did today at Molineux.
In the end, some inspired half-time subs from Howe led to Harvey Barnes and Fabian Schar getting the goals to see three points head back up the M1.
But while the goals came from Barnes and Schar, it was the performance of another Newcastle player that caught the eye of the BBC’s Clinton Morrison on commentary.
And that man, was England winger Anthony Gordon.

Clinton Morrison really surprised by how good Anthony Gordon is
Speaking about Gordon during the first half after he’d left the Wolves defence for dead once again, BBC pundit Morrison admitted he wasn’t aware of just how good Gordon was.
“I didn’t know Anthony Gordon was so sharp, there was a little nutmeg on Yerson Mosquera and he bent it around him,” Morrison said.
“So unlucky, hits the outside of the post. Fantastic play from Gordon.”
Gordon continued to be a menace throughout the game for Wolves and in the end, his drive and speed down the wing contributed heavily to the win.
Gordon has chance to be an England regular now
While Liverpool were keen on signing Anthony GordonFabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard about Kieran Trippier’s future at Newcastle amid Turkey interest in the summer and that move might well end up happening down the line, he has a real chance at Newcastle now to cement himself.
Lee Carsley has given him his chance recently and his performance at Wolves today showed why.

As Morrison says here, Gordon is so sharp with the ball and for any full-back, he is the epitome of a nightmare.
Gordon, then, could be in for a huge season as he looks to really etch his name in the England regular spots.
