Manchester United lost on penalties to Grimsby Town, with Andre Onana at the forefront of criticism. Although another Red Devils star needs to take accountability for something he did.

It was a night to forget once again for most Red Devils players. Onana made more blunders in what is probably the Cameroonian’s final game.

But as poor as the goalkeeper was, it was the man up the other end of the pitch who did something quite unbelievable – for all the wrong reasons.

Benjamin Sesko is a new Manchester United arrival, but he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory in the Carabao Cup clash.

The Slovenian was rather absent throughout, but his unforgivable moment came in the shootout, with the 22-year-old not stepping up until the 10th spot – just before Onana.

As a £74m striker, going just before your goalkeeper is simply ludicrous. It was unbelievable that he wasn’t drafted into the first five, and even more baffling when he didn’t appear in the next four either.

Sesko has only been at United for five minutes, granted, and is still young – but you can’t shy away from a penalty against League Two opposition and expect to be leading the line for Manchester United.

It was a decision that was baffling given his flawless penalty record at previous clubs, scoring 11 out of 11 for club and country.

When his penalty did come around, Sesko also dispatched with aplomb, making the decision equally as confusing.

Sesko still has lots of time to come good at Manchester United, but he’ll want to get this Grimsby performance out of his mind as soon as possible.
