Ollie Watkins has Aston Villa fans making the same claim after his ‘great’ Fulham display

Aston Villa put their goal-scoring woes behind them as they showed a clinical edge during their clash with Fulham.

The Villans have struggled in front of goal so far this season, with Unai Emery struggling to unlock the forwards as well as he can.

Morgan Rogers has been out of form, as well as Ollie Watkins, as the duo look to provide the spark that has been missing.

That seemingly changed in Aston Villa’s clash with Fulham, as things seemingly clicked all at once.

Goals from Watkins, John McGinn and Emiliano Buendia all came in quick succession, with fans now feeling hopeful for the former of those stars.

Aston Villa fans hope Ollie Watkins’ goal can kickstart a run of scoring

Ollie Watkins finally got back into the goal-scoring mood after a long drought where he couldn’t find the back of the net for Aston Villa.

It was a relatively simple move, as one ball over the top from Lucas Digne arrived at the striker, who managed to lob Bernd Leno.

Fans were left delighted with Watkins, taking to social media to praise the forward, hopeful that he can continue his scoring form now that he is underway.

“Watkins first touch finish always a better chance,” one supporter said.

Another added: “Hopefully that’s Watkins back to his best!”

The words of praise continued with: “Great finish from Watkins. Hopefully give him the confidence boost he needs.”

“Watkins has always been a hot and cold striker. Just been an extended cold spell. Hopefully we get an extended hot spell,” another fan said.

Others have questioned whether Watkins was even given the chance to score before he ended the drought, stating: “Crazy that Watkins got some service and scored, who could have predicted.”

Another fan added: “What started as possibly some of the worst football we’ve played all season has turned into something much more positive. Rogers much improved and Watkins with a goal that hopefully gets his and the rest of the team’s mojo back!”

The goal for Watkins turned out to be an important turning point in the match, while there is hope that it could be a turning point in the season as a whole.

Ollie Watkins ended his goal-scoring drought before an awkward milestone

Watkins found the net at just the right time, not just to help his team turn around the clash with Fulham, but also to keep an awkward milestone away from him.

Scoring when he did actually ended a drought that had lasted seven hours and 59 minutes.

If he left it any longer, then Watkins would’ve gone into the territory of eight hours since he last scored a goal.

Given the fact that he has become a well-known scorer for the side, it would be a record to avoid at all costs, and he managed just that.

Now, it’s time for him to continue that run of form with some goals in the Premier League and the Europa League, as the club look to kickstart their season.
