Oleksandr Zinchenko shares his opinion on whether Arsenal can overtake ‘amazing’ Man City soon

Oleksandr Zinchenko has given his verdict on if Arsenal have what it takes to finish above Manchester City next season.

The Gunners have come second place in the last two Premier League campaigns, losing out on the title to Pep Guardiola’s side as the Manchester giants firmly established themselves as the best club in world football.

Ahead of the new season, though, there is optimism that Arsenal can finally get one over on City, with the Gunners working to sign Riccardo Calafiori, as Victor Osimhen has also once again emerged as a target for the north London side.

And Zinchenko has now shared if he thinks Arsenal can get beat City in the final standings at last.

Zinchenko confident Arsenal can best Man City in the Premier League

Speaking to the press on Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States, the Ukrainian international shared his confidence in the Gunners finishing above City in the Premier League, with the north London side fired up for the new campaign.

With some Arsenal players in pre-season training for some weeks now, it’s clear that the Gunners are eager to get underway in the Premier League, with Mikel Arteta’s side falling just two points off the title.

Zinchenko said when asked whether or not Arsenal can overtake City at least next season: “I don’t think we need to copy someone like City. Of course, at the moment, they are probably the best team in the world.

“If you look at the stats and titles they have won in the last couple of years, it is amazing. You always need to look at the best but not be like them we need to be on top of them. Arsenal are on the right way. I really hope and believe in the close future Arsenal can achieve a lot of good things.”

Arsenal need to get pre-season spot on to challenge for the Premier League

Arsenal have shown in the last two years that an effective pre-season is the ultimate recipe for a strong start to the Premier League, and the Gunners might need to go one step further in the upcoming campaign.

Arteta and his squad know that next season could be the golden chance to win the title having come so close in the last two campaigns, with City proving to be too good over the course of 38 games.

As a result, Arsenal need to be perfect in every step they make between now and next May, where the north London side will be hopeful in lifting the Premier League title for the first time in 21 years.
