Arthur Okonkwo has told Goal that Eddie Nketiah and Granit Xhaka are the two players who come to mind when asked to name the members of the Arsenal squad with the hardest shot.
Xhaka reminded everyone just how lethal he can be from distance at the weekend. The Swiss scored a brilliantly taken goal on Saturday as Arsenal beat Manchester United at the Emirates.
It was his first goal of the season. But he was not the only player to find the back of the net for first time in the Premier League this term in the last week.
Nketiah bagged two goals as the Gunners beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The victory set Arsenal’s push for the top-four in the top-flight back on track.
The pair are amongst those seemingly finding form at the perfect time. And interestingly, they have both been picked out by Okonkwo when asked to name the Arsenal player with the most fearsome shot.
“The hardest shot? Eddie Nketiah can hit the ball. Granit [Xhaka] as well,” he told Goal.
“He doesn’t do much finishing so I always forget about him, but when he does, you know about it!
“I would say those are the people to be afraid of in training.”
Arsenal need Nketiah and Xhaka on form as top-four race goes to wire
Arsenal are now back on pole position to finish fourth in the Premier League. They have won their last two while watching Spurs win neither.
But there is still plenty of football to be played. And with that, Mikel Arteta will need his troops to continue impressing in the weeks ahead.
Both men have plenty to play for. Xhaka will want to prove that he must keep his place as Arsenal to keep progressing.
Meanwhile, Nketiah will want to score the goals that ensure that he gets the assurances he is looking for at the Emirates, or earn him the best move possible elsewhere.
