Jamie Carragher slammed Everton forward Richarlison for going down yesterday but Talksport’s Jamie O’Hara has hit back at the Sky Sports commentator.
Carragher was furious with Richarlison as he went down under a challenge at Anfield yesterday which then led to a bit of a mini brawl between Everton and Liverpool players. At the time, it looked like the Brazilian was making the most of the situation and trying to slow the game down. However, replays did show he took an awkward knock and was in pain.

And speaking on Talksport this morning, Jamie O’Hara has defended Richarlison and hit back at Carragher.
“It was because they were getting frustrated, the Liverpool fans. The second one was an innocuous challenge and it’s hurt him. I think it’s a little bit harsh to say he was cheating, I thought Richarlison played really well,” O’Hara said this morning.
“The two where he went down I think he was hurt. And I thought it was a little bit harsh for Carragher to come out and say get up. You shouldn’t say that. No, you don’t know how he’s feeling. There was contact and he was in pain. Understand he’s gone down, play on, no problem. But don’t start making him out to be a cheat cos I disagree with that.”
Carragher later did concede he’d maybe misjudged it at the time. However, Richarlison was booed throughout by the Liverpool fans, who were clearly riled.
TBR’s View: Everton And Richarlison Didn’t Do Much Wrong
Yes, the Toffees resorted to some of the ‘dark arts’ of football but they were playing one of the best teams in the world and are in the bottom three, so what else can they do?
Antony Gordon probably did things a bit OTT, but Richarlison was simply trying to be smart. The moment O’Hara talks about here is spot on, too.
