'Official statement soon': Fabrizio Romano says there may be some contract news coming at Arsenal
Fabrizio Romano says Eddie Nketiah has now signed his new Arsenal contract and an official announcement will be made soon.
As the weeks ticked down towards the end of the season, Nketiah looked all set to leave Arsenal, continuing the exodus of strikers.
But he got a run in the side ahead of Alexandre Lacazette and then the club seemingly convinced him that he would get enough gametime if he stayed.
As a formality, he had to be named on Arsenal’s released list, because his contract was not signed an agreed before it was published.
Nketiah has now signed new Arsenal contract
Romano says that Nketiah has now put pen to paper on the deal and it will be announced in due course by Arsenal.
The deal will run for five more years, until the summer of 2027, by which point Nketiah will hope to establish himself as a key man for Arsenal.
The Englishman is clinical in front of goal but he has just got to work on the rest of his game, holding the ball up and bringing others into play.
Romano saying that he had so many offers shows how good he is and can be if he gets a run of games and keeps on working hard.
Nketiah could also be about to take over the legendary number 14 shirt made famous by Thierry Henry during his time on the red half of north London.
It looks like Gabriel Jesus will come in as the main striker, with Nketiah his backup but hoping for more games and not just the Europa League ones to show what he can do.
