Nuno Tavares teases Arsenal teammate with four-word Instagram post
Nuno Tavares is settling in well at Arsenal. The summer signing from Benfica scored in his first pre-season friendly against Hibernian – and now he is teasing his Gunners teammates on Instagram. The Portuguese defender posted a four-word message to Reiss Nelson.
Tavares, 21, joins Arsenal after clocking up just 41 appearances for Benfica’s first team. In last seasons Europa League bout between the two, Tavares got just five minutes in the second leg – and was an unused sub in the first clash. Clearly, he has been signed with the future in mind.
But he has certainly made his mark in pre-season under Mikel Arteta. The Portugal Under-21 star offers cover on both sides of the defence, with Arsenal potentially about to sell Hector Bellerin. With Sead Kolasinac likely to also be on the firing list, Arsenal need cover for Kieran Tierney.
What has Tavares said to Arsenal teammate Nelson?
However, with no European football – not even the Europa Conference League – Arsenal needed players that would be happy to sit on the bench. Tavares is hardly likely to get much of a kick next season if Tierney stays fit, and of course, if Kolasinac remains on the books.
But he has made a solid start to life in North London and will have certainly caught the eye of Arteta. Now, he is teasing his new teammates on Instagram. Having beaten Nelson in what looks like a sprinting drill, Tavares posted a picture and a four-word message alongside.
