'Not be seen': Newcastle United reportedly want to sign inconsistent attacker, sometimes he's invisible on the pitch
The 21-year-old has been the subject of plenty of speculation about his future.
One of the clubs that are reportedly targeting Mudryk is Newcastle.
Mudryk has announced himself on the international stage over the last few weeks.
The Shakhter winger scored a brilliant goal and provided two assists against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
He then scored again against Celtic, and this has only made his price tag rise.
Newcastle target Mudryk
Mudryk’s captain Stepanenko had plenty of positive things to say about the winger.
However, he questioned the youngster’s consistency and mentioned that he can something go missing in games.
“I will say that there will be a lot of pressure on Misha (Mudryk) now. It is a responsibility when a young player is given such advances.” Stepanenko said.
“In every match, he is expected to run 40 meters and score a goal.
“He is progressing very well now, he listens to what he is told. With such hard work, I think he can become one of the best players in the history of our country.
“He works, lives by football. The main thing is that he does not pay attention to what will be said about him around.
“The pressure is great, one day he will produce a super game, one day he will not be seen. But he will gradually raise his level.”
Mudryk has produced some brilliant numbers in the Champions League this season.
However, he’s yet to score in the Ukrainian Premier League this season, and only has one assist.
Newcastle fans might argue that they don’t need another inconsistent winger in the squad.
Allan Saint-Maximin is a phenomenal player on his day, but doesn’t always deliver the best end product.
Miguel Almiron is in a similar position on the other wing, and despite being hard-working, rarely gets on the scoresheet or provides assists.
Newcastle will target Mudryk to give Howe another option and hopefully raise the game of all three players.
