'Not a good deal for us': Some Arsenal fans react as PL rivals eye bargain move for Gunners ace
The Sun revealed yesterday that Everton are interested in signing Arsenal defender Calum Chambers in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old has entered the final year of his deal at Arsenal and a contract renewal doesn’t look like it will happen. He is expected to move on in one of the next two windows, and the Toffees are keen to take advantage of the situation.
The report claimed that Everton believe a £5 million bid will be enough to get the Englishman. With just six months left on his deal, Arsenal may agree as well, which makes a deal very much possible.
Chambers would be an excellent signing for Everton. He can play in three different positions, is good with the ball at his feet, knows the Premier League really well and he’s still only 26.
After spending more time on the sidelines than on the pitch over the last 18 months, Chambers could really do with a move to a club where he’ll play regularly.
Everton would be a decent place for him, but Arsenal fans think £5 million is too small a fee for a player of his quality.

An English player of Chambers’ age, versatility and experience should be worth a lot more than £5 million, according to some Arsenal supporters.
The Gunners have never been good sellers. Apart from Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott, both sold to Everton, Arsenal haven’t made good money on anyone over the years. Sadly for them, that trend won’t change now.
The length of Chambers’ contract makes it almost impossible for Arsenal to demand a big fee. £5 million may be too small, but Edu and Arteta cannot possibly imagine getting anything over twice as much as that in January.
