Noni Madueke to Chelsea latest as Tottenham and Leeds interest emerges
PSV winger Noni Madueke is a man in demand it seems, with The Athletic reporting that Chelsea are now in talks to try and sign him.
The former Spurs man has shone in the Eredivisie since making the leap. His form has attracted admiring glances around Europe, and it seems Chelsea are testing PSV’s resolve.
However, it’s not only Chelsea who have declared an interest in signing Madueke. According to 90Min, a whole host of clubs in England, including Leeds and former club Tottenham, have been keeping tabs on the Englishman.
90Min writes how those two, along with Newcastle, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Everton and Leicester have all been keeping a track of Madueke’s progress in Holland. It should be noted that the report states Leeds are likely to cool their interest, given they’re close to signing Georgino Rutter.
Madueke is expected to be allowed to leave PSV for around £40m. If he is sold, it would mark the second key player sale for PSV this month, after the lost Cody Gakpo to Liverpool.
Lauded for a piece of ‘outrageous‘ skill while with the England under-21s, Madueke can play across the front positions if required. If he does sign for Chelsea, he’ll follow Joao Felix to the Blues, who signed in an expensive loan deal last week.
TBR’s View: Madueke a man in demand and easy to see why
Some players have that little bit of X Factor about them and Noni Madueke is certainly a player who has that in the locker.
He’s capable with the ball at his feet and would back himself to beat any defender on his day. At Chelsea, he’d fancy his chances of making an impression if given the chance. The pressure would be different, but he’s a confident young player.
It’s easy to see why Leeds, Spurs and more have watched him. Chelsea, then, could be getting a fine player.
