‘Nonsense’… Piers Morgan is not happy with Mikel Arteta after what he’s just said

Piers Morgan has had a real go at Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta after he made a claim about the size of his squad yesterday.

The Gunners have had an up-and-down season so far. They were on top of the Premier League table at Christmas, but following a run of difficult results, they’re now third, five points behind leaders Liverpool. Arteta and his men have a lot of work to do.

Piers Morgan slams Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta for speaking ‘nonsense’

Arsenal take on Nottingham Forest tonight in a game they will be hoping to win.

Mikel Arteta‘s side have had plenty of rest, having played just two games this month. However, the Gunners have a few injury issues to deal with.

In his press conference yesterday, Arteta ruled Thomas Partey out of the game, while Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes‘ availability was described as doubtful.

Jurrien Timber and Fabio Vieira are long-term absentees, while Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu haven’t returned from their international commitments.

Arteta claimed in an interview with TNT Sports yesterday that Arsenal have ‘one of the thinnest squads in the league’ right now.

Piers Morgan was not happy with that statement and had a real go at the Arsenal boss on X.

He wrote: “So, we’ve got one of the thinnest squads (incl no top striker) but won’t be doing anything about it?

“Sorry Mikel, but you’re talking incomprehensible nonsense.”

Arsenal can’t spend due to FFP regulations

It’s easy for Piers Morgan or anyone else to scream at the TV and urge Mikel Arteta to go and sign big players for Arsenal this month.

However, the reality is that the Gunners cannot make any big investments without breaching Financial Fair Play regulations.

Most of the other clubs in the country are in a similar position as well, which is why this has been such a quiet January transfer window.

There are things you can criticise Arteta and Arsenal for, but to have a go at him for not spending money in this window is just a bit silly, in our opinion.
