Nick Pope and Callum Wilson absolutely loved Arsenal player’s brilliant moment in England training
England have been getting ready for their final group match of the World Cup against Wales today.
Fans would be encouraged to see captain Harry Kane involved while James Maddison was also out training.
Gareth Southgate will be hoping to see a repeat of his side’s win against Iran, rather than the drab draw with the USA.
Changes are expected to the England team for tonight’s clash with the Three Lions all-but-through to the knockout stages.
Arsenal fans may see Bukayo Saka rested with Phil Foden given an opportunity from the start.
It’s a sign of how well the squad is training that Southgate feels comfortable to shuffle the pack in a game that still has something riding on it.
One position that’s unlikely to change throughout the tournament is the goalkeeper.
Jordan Pickford has been Southgate’s number one for a number of years and has been solid in Qatar so far.
However, from the clip shared by England, Aaron Ramsdale has been impressing his England teammates in training.
The 24-year-old is third choice right now, but will be hoping to steal the number one jersey off Pickford in the future.
Ramsdale impresses in England training
In the video posted by England, the players are working on their crossing and shooting.
Ben White squares the ball to Kalvin Phillips on the edge of the box, and his shot forces Ramsdale into a diving save to his left.
Nick Pope – standing next to him by the goal – says, ‘Save Rambo’, before White volleys the rebound.
Ramsdale manages to parry it onto the post and then grab it as the ball roles across the line.
Pope then shouts, ‘Yes, love it Rambo!’, while Callum Wilson looks shocked that he’s kept it out.
It’s not the first time Ramsdale has impressed with England colleagues in training in Qatar.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was left shocked by a number of superb saves he’s made.
Ramsdale has been instrumental in Arsenal currently sitting top of the league.
Despite saying he would rather win the World Cup than the Premier League, both could be in his sights this season.
His form in training certainly suggests he’s ready if called upon by Southgate.
