Neymar says Kyle Walker is the toughest defender he has ever faced
The Brazilian sat down for a chat with DAZN Canada this week and he was asked a number of questions. One of his answers will really surprise you!
Neymar says Kyle Walker is the toughest player he has ever played against
Walker was always one of Tottenham’s most important players, but since he left them and joined Manchester City, he has taken his game to a whole new level.
The Englishman, who joined City for an initial fee of £50 million in 2017 (The Guardian), is arguably the best right-back in the Premier League. He’s a nightmare for forwards to play against – even the best ones, like Neymar.
The Brazilian was asked to name the toughest opponent he has faced in his career so far.
Neymar replied: “Walker! Because he’s fast, strong and intelligent.”
That’s some compliment for Walker, who doesn’t always get the credit he deserves.
Tottenham obviously wouldn’t have wanted to sell Walker, but when Manchester City came in for him with the big bucks, there wasn’t a lot Spurs could’ve done.
The now 32-year-old, branded as a ‘fantastic’ right-back, has won four Premier League titles, four League Cups, one FA Cup and two Community Shields since he joined City five years ago.
In the same period, Tottenham have won exactly zero trophies.
Walker will have no regrets about leaving Spurs, and a compliment from a superstar like Neymar just shows how far he has come since his time at White Hart Lane.
