Newcastle want £26m-rated striker, 25 goals last season - report
Newcastle United have reportedly rekindled their interest in Wout Weghorst, according to Kicker.
The Magpies have plenty of financial muscle behind them in wake of their long-awaited takeover.
Newcastle are bound to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window in pursuit of Premier League safety.
This summer, The Athletic claimed the Magpies made a preliminary move to land the Dutchman in 2020.
Weghorst ended up staying put at Wolfsburg and scored 25 goals in all competitions at club level.
And this summer, the 29-year-old played at Euro 2020, scoring once for the Netherlands.
Former Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas deemed Weghorst “brilliant” for his display against Austria.
On Tuesday, Kicker wrote about the 6ft 5in targetman’s future at Wolfsburg.
The striker recently changed agents after being linked with a move away for the last two summers.
Now “there are rumours” of interest from Newcastle – and “not for the first time”.
Last summer, Weghorst reportedly had a £26million price tag (Buli News).
An international striker with plenty of experience at the highest level, he’d certainly be a good shout for Newcastle.
