Newcastle transfer news: Magpies eyeing move for Ruben Neves
Neves’ future at Molineux looks to be far from certain. The Daily Mirror reports that his contract with Julen Lopetegui’s men expires at the end of next season. And he is yet to sign fresh terms.
The report claims that Liverpool want the Portuguese and could look to make a January move. But it is also suggested that Newcastle are keen.
Newcastle battling Liverpool for Ruben Neves
The problem for the Magpies is that the Daily Mirror reports that Eddie Howe’s men are more likely to make their move at the end of the campaign. So that may leave the door open for another side to swoop in.
According to the Mirror, he was previously valued at £70 million. However, that value is now dropping. In October, it was suggested that he would cost around £50 million.
And if he reaches the final 12 months of his contract, you would imagine that the price could even drop further. In that scenario, Wolves would surely be tempted to try and hold onto Neves and risk losing him on a free.
Neves would undoubtedly be an amazing signing for Newcastle. He has been an outstanding servant for Wolves, helping them gain promotion and establish themselves in the top-flight.
The 25-year-old has now made 235 appearances for the club in all competitions. So he may well be ready to take that next step. And Newcastle can now offer that.
The Magpies are flying in the Premier League. And they could be able to offer Champions League football from next year.
It would be a huge statement if they could add the ‘sensational‘ Neves to their ranks.
