Newcastle transfer news: Hakim Ziyech now on their radar after Mykhaylo Mudryk signing
Newcastle United are very much aiming for a top four finish this season, after an incredible start to their campaign.
However, the last two weeks of the transfer window could be vital to achieving that.
A report from Dean Jones, via Give Me Sport, has provided an update on a potential target.
There’s already been plenty of moves completed by other teams around the Premier League.
Newcastle have yet to loosen their purse strings, but that may change before deadline day.
Eddie Howe may have concerns about his options in midfield after Bruno Guimaraes hobbled off against Fulham.
However, it’s further up the pitch that Newcastle may be looking and a big deal completed elsewhere could be about to benefit them.
Chelsea’s purchase of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has added another option to an already bloated squad.
According to Dean Jones, Newcastle are now looking at Hakim Ziyech, who may have just fallen further down the pecking order.
The £33m attacker has struggled to hit the ground at Stamford Bridge, and could now be on his way out.
Newcastle looking at Chelsea attacker Ziyech
The report from Jones, via Give Me Sport, says: “I’m told that on the back of Chelsea’s business, Newcastle are checking out the Ziyech situation.
“I think this is a really interesting idea to weigh up for the rest of this season to help them secure a place in the top four.”
Ziyech is clearly a quality player, and had a brilliant World Cup with Morocco last year.
He helped the Atlas Lions reach the semi-finals, a record-breaking performance for an African side.
Mudryk’s arrival is going to give Graham Potter an even bigger selection headache.
He already has plenty of attacking options, and Ziyech’s chances of staying in the team may be slim.
The 29-year-old has only started three league games this season, and has been a bit-part player.
90min also believe Newcastle are looking at ZIyech, and have held positive talks with his representatives.
Tottenham have also been linked, as they search for an attacker who can help them jump above Newcastle in the table.
His future at Chelsea is very much up in the air, and Newcastle could pounce before the window closes.
