Report: Newcastle will offer a contract to £30m 'gladiator' Tottenham and Ten Hag want
Newcastle United are one of the clubs who will offer a contract to Inter defender, Milan Skriniar, as he approaches the end of his deal.
Skriniar is one of the most sought-after players in Europe right now. And with his current contract due to expire in the summer, there is expected to be a scramble for his signature.
Indeed, according to 90Min, a host of English clubs – including Newcastle – will offer a contract to the Slovakian to try and temp him to the Premier League. Along with Newcastle, 90Min says Man City, Manchester United, and Chelsea are all expected to offer him terms.
But interest in Skriniar doesn’t stop there. Liverpool are thought to be considering signing him as a replacement for Virgil van Dijk in January. Tottenham hold a long-term interest in Skriniar and it’s widely known that Antonio Conte would love him.
Skriniar, 27, was dubbed a ‘gladiator‘ by Italian press after a superb showing against Liverpool previously. It is those sorts of performance which have seen so many interested, with Inter almost accepting they’re going to lose him.
Inter could decide to sell in January, should a good bid arrive. They do still harbour hopes of keeping him, however, Skriniar is expected to consider his options.
TBR’s View: Skriniar and Botman is a dream Newcastle pairing
If Newcastle manage to beat all the clubs mentioned here to the signing of Milan Skriniar then it’s a game-changing moment for them.
Skriniar is in demand for a reason. He is simply one of the top defenders in Europe and if he’s available on a free, Newcastle could be able to offer big wages to try and get him.
The idea of him and Botman at the back for the Toon is a mouth-watering prospect. Certainly, in terms of good signings, Skriniar would be right up there.
