Newcastle United will reportedly block Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson from leaving this January amid new interest in the Magpies duo.

The England internationals are two of Newcastle’s most senior players, with Trippier and Wilson a key reason behind Eddie Howe’s outstanding success at the club since joining two years ago.

However, in recent days Trippier has reportedly emerged as a target for Bayern Munich, with Wilson on Atletico Madrid’s radar.

Yet according to TalkSport, Newcastle will block the pair from leaving this January, with the ‘shock’ transfers something the Magpies are keen to prevent.

As per the report, the St. James’ Park side need to sell if they’re to bring in any new players of their own, with Bruno Guimaraes also rumoured with a move away from Newcastle.

But two players who Newcastle seemingly won’t be selling anytime soon are Trippier and Wilson, with the Magpies making the right decision on their transfer stance on the duo.

Whilst the need for Newcastle to sell is great, it’s hard to imagine how the Toon replace two players as important to the first-team as Trippier and Wilson.

The right-back is one of the best fullbacks in the Premier League and could be impossible to replace even if Newcastle were to get a good fee for Trippier.

And the situation would be virtually the same for Wilson, with the Newcastle no. 9 an outstanding goalscorer despite his frequent injury problems.

Indeed, Newcastle know they’ll have to sell a key player sooner rather than later, but Trippier and Wilson are two names who have to remain with the Magpies if they’re to succeed.
