Newcastle think 'astonishing' winger may now want to join them in January - journalist
Newcastle United think Moussa Diaby may become unsettled at Bayer Leverkusen during the January transfer window.
That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who told Give Me Sport that the Magpies will check on the winger during the winter window.
Newcastle have been linked with a new wide forward for some time with James Maddison clearly admired greatly on Tyneside.
But Jones says Diaby is the deal which may be able to get done next month if Diaby pushes to leave the Bundesliga outfit.
Newcastle think Diaby move could be possible in January
Jones said: “In the meantime look out as Newcastle continue to monitor Moussa Diaby, who they feel might be becoming fidgety at Bayer Leverkusen, and will check on him too while they wait on Maddison’s situation.
In September, Jones said: “There will undoubtedly be competition for Diaby, he is brilliant.
“Newcastle have put in the hard yards already though. So they will hope that if they want to pick up again on that transfer, they would be ahead of anyone else.”
The ‘astonishing‘ winger has been delivering for his club and could soon be ready for that next step in his career.
We will wait and see if it comes during the January window, and Newcastle may decide to wait it out again over Maddison.
The Magpies have been impressive in the transfer market since the takeover, biding their time for the targets they really want and they may need to show patience again to get the wideman they really want.
