Newcastle United have reportedly made a move in the transfer market for one of Europe’s most exciting youngsters.

A report from German outlet Sport1 believes Newcastle have made an offer for Borussia Dortmund forward Youssoufa Moukoko.

They’ve stated that the teenage striker has received a ‘financially far more lucrative offer’ from Eddie Howe’s side than Dortmund.

Moukoko’s contract runs out in the summer, meaning clubs outside of Germany can now make their approaches.

Dortmund are still trying to convince one of their brightest talents to stay at the club.

They’ve offered the young German €3m-a-year [£2.6m] salary, and a €10m [£8.8m] signing on bonus.

However, this is below what Moukoko’s camp are willing to accept, particularly with Newcastle waiting in the wings.

The Magpies have been very sensible with their transfer dealings since the arrival of Eddie Howe.

Although they’ve spent a decent amount of money, the immediate improvement has been obvious.

Newcastle making an offer for Moukoko shows they’ve got one eye on the future as well as the present.

Newcastle make Moukoko offer

The 18-year-old was the youngest ever player to appear in the Bundesliga after making his debut the day after his 16th birthday.

He was described by Erling Haaland as the most talented 15-year-old he’d ever seen.

Since then, he’s gone on to be an important player in Dortmund’s first team.

So much so, that he was called up by Germany manger Hansi Flick to be part of their World Cup squad in Qatar.

Moukoko clearly understands his value, hence why he’s not rushed to accept an offer from Dortmund.

He’s previously been linked with Arsenal, although they have plenty of young forwards of their own.

Moukoko will have to carefully consider Newcastle’s offer, even if he eventually decides to stay at Dortmund.

The longer negotiations rumble on for, the more likely Eddie Howe’s side might be to pick him up.

He could be the forward they build their team around for some time.

If they European football to offer him next season as well, then that could be the thing that swings his decision in Newcastle’s favour.
