Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a move to sign LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David.
That’s according to journalist Marco Conterio, who claims Newcastle United have entered the race to sign the Canadian forward.
Eddie Howe will be desperate for reinforcements in January due to an ongoing injury crisis at Newcastle.
The Magpies have already lost a host of key players during the early stages of the season.
Newcastle are widely expected to target a new midfielder following Sandro Tonali’s ban. But it seems they are also eyeing a move for talented forward Jonathan David.

The Lille star managed 24 goals in Ligue 1 last season and attracted interest from Tottenham over the summer.
And if Conterio is to be believed, Newcastle have thrown their hat into the ring for the Canadian international.
Newcastle enter race to sign David
Conterio took to X on Tuesday evening and made a claim about Newcastle entering the race for David.
The journalist states the Magpies have already tested the waters over a possible move for the 23-year-old.
David hasn’t been as prolific this season but has still managed nine goal involvements in 22 appearances.
The forward boats brilliant qualities and has been lauded for his pace, as well as his direct approach.
Indeed, SpeedsDB even has him down as a player who is faster than Manchester City star Phil Foden.
The City winger has recorded a top speed of 32.40 km/h, whereas David has managed a top speed of 32.6 km/h.

Of course, Newcastle already have a pacey forward in Alexander Isak and the Swede has excelled since making the switch to St James’ Park last summer.
But David would provide Howe with another quality option up front and a versatile one at that too. The £50 million man has also shown he can play out wide or in an attacking midfield role.
Yet, it would be a surprise to see Newcastle prioritise a move for a new forward next month. The Magpies are desperate for reinforcements in midfield and that will likely top their agenda in January.
