Newcastle United are not done on transfer deadline day and have made a late move to try and hijack Everton’s bid to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham this evening.

The Magpies are looking to bring in an attacking midfielder after seeing a move for Jesse Lingard break down. And according to The Athletic, Newcastle are now keen on Alli.

It is believed Newcastle are looking to offer a loan deal for Alli, which if goes well, they could then look to turn into a permanent transfer. This is different move from Everton, who are said to be looking at a permanent deal worth up to £40m for the former England midfielder.

A frantic day at Newcastle has seen them sign Matt Targett from Aston Villa. Dan Burn is also set to sign, while deals for both Hugo Ekitike and Jesse Lingard have broken down. Alli, then, could well be the perfect late swoop for the Magpies.

TBR’s View: Dele Alli Left With Decision To Make

Do you go to Everton and work under a young manager who you should look up to? Or do you join a Newcastle side who has added countless new players and will no doubt be splashing out in the summer?

It’s a huge call this for Dele Alli, and one he must get right. Time will tell, but Newcastle’s interest has certainly thrown a spanner in the works here. Labelled ‘brilliant’ by Ian Wright, Dele is definitely still a huge talent.
