Newcastle fans react as Liverpool and Benitez reportedly eye Toon star
Newcastle United star Allan Saint-Maximin is reportedly attracting interest from Liverpool and Everton – and Toon fans have reacted on Twitter.
Saint-Maximin, 24, is quickly emerging as one of the best players in the Premier League outside of the top six clubs. He is shining for the Toon.
In a side that are yet to win and struggle to score goals, Saint-Maximin has had a hand in five goals during his six Premier League appearances.
He is driving the Toon forward – scoring two and creating three more. On Saturday, he could have had a couple of assists; a 1-1 draw with Watford.
However, Jacob Murphy and Sean Longstaff missed golden chances after being played in by Saint-Maximin. His form is catching the eye.
A report from CalcioMercato says Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton want Newcastle star Saint-Maximin – who is valued at £70million (Mail).
What are Newcastle fans saying, as Liverpool eye Saint-Maximin?
Clearly, as Newcastle continue to struggle but Saint-Maximin shines, the Toon are in danger of losing their no.10. He has a contract until 2026.
Liverpool could do with options out wide, with Mo Salah and Sadio Mane set to jet off and represent their countries at the African Cup of Nations.
Harvey Elliott is injured, and Xherdan Shaqiri has been sold to Lyon. Liverpool need reinforcements and Saint-Maximin might be ideal.
Newcastle fans have reacted to the reports. Some are desperate for him to stay, while others feel an exit is inevitable. One fan says he would even love to see him at Liverpool, under Jurgen Klopp.
