Newcastle fans react as club reportedly in talks to sign £10m Serie A star, on loan

Newcastle United are reportedly in talks with Jose Mourinho’s Roma in a bid to sign playmaker Carles Perez on an initial loan spell. The report claims a permanent clause could be included, and potentially even an obligation to buy. Newcastle fans have reacted to the reports, wanting Perez signed.

The 23-year-old is struggling for game time at Roma. Joining the club on loan in January 2020, Perez has clocked up 48 appearances for Roma in 18 months – joining permanently last summer for £10million. But of those 48 games, 29 have been from the bench. He has scored five, creating six.

CalcioMercato report that Newcastle are talking to Perez, Roma and the player’s entourage. A loan deal is likely to begin with – Newcastle said to be pushing for a loan-to-buy deal. However, Roma and Mourinho wants some cash to spend and an obligation could be included.
