Newcastle fans react as club reportedly battling Benitez for Champions League star

Newcastle United have reportedly thrown their hat into the ring for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey – and Toon fans are excited.

Ramsey, 30, is struggling for consistent game time at Juventus – in what is his third season with the club. He has started just 34 of 69 Juve outings.

In that time, the 67-time Wales ace has scored just six goals. A stark contrast to his Arsenal form, in which he had a hand in 130 goals in his 371 games.

A report from CalcioMercato states that Juve are desperate to offload Ramsey. That is because of his enormous £115,000-a-week wages.

It is believed the ex-Cardiff man is in favour of a return to the Premier League – and Newcastle’s new owners are ready to offer him that.

However, Staveley and co. are not alone in their pursuit of the Gunners icon. Crystal Palace are keen, as are Rafa Benitez’s Everton.

The Toon need a big-name signing. As is with the way with a takeover, fans are beginning to get excited and big-calibre additions are order of the day.

Should Newcastle adhere to fans urging their club to sign certain players – no matter the cost? Well, they should have a plan in place to build.

But one thing is for sure. If Newcastle do not sign a player that excites the fanbase in January, then fans will be underwhelmed. Ramsey is ideal.

A deal easy to do given Juve’s willingness to sell and Ramsey’s desire to move, the owners could please Newcastle fans with a flick of a wrist.
