Things are finally looking up for Newcastle United in the transfer window.
The Magpies have had a very difficult summer so far. They were keen to sign the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Joao Pedro and Benjamin Sesko but missed out on all of them.
On Tuesday, Newcastle confirmed the signing of Malick Thiaw, and that helps strengthen their defence ahead of the start of the new season.
Now, the Toon could follow that up with another signing.
Fabrizio Romano shares Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United update
Jacob Ramsey has been a target for Newcastle United for a while now.
The Englishman has produced some excellent performances at Aston Villa, but his future has been up in the air there.
TBR Football revealed in April that Ramsey could be sold by Unai Emery this summer, and that information is about to be proved right.
Newcastle tabled an official bid to sign Ramsey on Tuesday, claims Fabrizio Romano, and the Magpies are just £2 million short of Villa’s demands.
The journalist also confirmed TBR’s exclusive news that Ramsey has no interest in joining West Ham and only wants to sign for Newcastle.
He said in a video on his YouTube channel: “Keep an eye on Newcastle because they made official Malick Thiaw from AC Milan today – €36 million plus €4 million in add-ons (£31.1m+£3.4m), but Newcastle are not done.
“The here we go is coming for Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa to Newcastle. Tonight, Newcastle sent an official bid of £38 million plus £2 million in add-ons. Villa want £40 million guaranteed.
So today, basically Wednesday, the deal can be done. Jacob Ramsey is expected to join Newcastle. West Ham also approached the player, but he wants to go to Newcastle, and so the deal is almost done.”

What Steven Gerrard once said about Jacob Ramsey should excite Newcastle fans
Ramsey has always been viewed as a talented player.
The 24-year-old caught everyone’s eye when he first broke into the senior Aston Villa squad, and Eddie Howe will be hoping that he can go to another level at Newcastle.
Steven Gerrard, who knows a thing or two about being a world-class midfielder, worked with Ramsey at Villa, and he was convinced that the player would become a star.
He said in February 2022, as per BBC Sport: “Jacob Ramsey is Jacob Ramsey. He’s not following in anyone’s footsteps.
“He will be a terrific player. It won’t be long before the whole country is watching him, I’m sure. He is right up there, let me tell you.”
