Newcastle are interested in ‘powerful’ player who is unbelievable at crossing

Newcastle United fans find themselves patiently waiting for their first major signing of the summer still.

Eddie Howe‘s patience is also being tested at St James’ Park as the Newcastle boss has already made his thoughts known to the media.

The Toon have seen Lloyd Kelly arrive on a free alongside two backup goalkeepers in John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

However, the big business has been done in terms of player exits with Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh sold last month to balance the books against PSR.

“We lost Lewis Miley off season and we have Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles still injured. So I think we need to add players, we hope to. But there’s no guarantee,” he recently told the media.

But it seems as if Newcastle are still working on some of their potential targets with one player from La Liga 2 now of interest.

Newcastle eyeing Spanish defender this summer

The Magpies are going into the new campaign with some serious injury issues at the back having lost Lascelles and Botman to significant issues.

Newcastle made Lewis Hall’s loan stay permanent after the end of last season but there still remains some question marks at right-back.

Kieran Trippier is a player Newcastle would consider selling this summer and he has reportedly already been offered to AC Milan.

And the England international’s potential successor could already be on the radar of the Toon.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Newcastle are one of the clubs who are interested in potentially signing Marc Pubill from UD Almeria.

However, Newcastle are not the only side to have shown an interest in the 21-year-old with Roma set to hold talks with his agents.

But the right-back is under contract with Almeria until 2029 which will mean the Spanish side hold all the power when it comes to negotiations this summer.

Marc Pubill could be the perfect Kieran Trippier successor

Racking up 23 appearances in the league for Almeria last season, Pubill provided a return of a goal and three assists.

However, this is a promising young player who has been described as ‘powerful’ on the club’s website after he signed for them last summer.

Perhaps Trippier’s best attribute is his crossing and that can be seen through his impressive return of 10 assists last season in the league.

Pubill is also said to be an expert crosser with the same article from the Almeria website emphasising the 21-year-old’s excellent crossing ability.

Clearly, he is not the finished article and there is still some development to be made, but there is a lot of exciting attributes that Pubill possesses to potentially replace Trippier.
