Dimitar Berbatov is one of the most talented players to ever play for Tottenham.

Say what you will about his attitude on the pitch and his workrate, in terms of sheer ability, Berbatov is one of the best players we’ve ever seen.

The Bulgarian could do things with a football that most of us could only ever dream of, and speaking on Filthy Fellas, Darren Bent has now been speaking about what the striker was like at Tottenham.

Bent says that Berbatov was unlike anything he’d ever seen before, claiming that he had the greatest first-touch of any player he’d ever seen.

Berbatov’s first-touch shocked Bent

The pundit spoke about his former teammate.

“Berbatov, I’d never seen a first-touch like it, you could give him the ball in any type of scenario and he wasn’t giving the ball away,” Bent said.

“Let me ask you this, who was better technically, Berbatov or Tom Huddlestone because you played with Huddlestone as well,” Bent was asked.

“Passing, it’s Tom, Huddlestone’s passing, but first-touch it’s Berba, the best first-touch I’d seen in my life,”

Incredible

It’s not at all surprising to hear this.

In games, Berbatov had the most ridiculous technique, so we can only imagine the type of tricks he was attempting and pulling off when he was in training as well.

Berbatov was a ridiculously talented player, and, as Bent says, we’ve not seen a player with a touch like his before or since.

With that being said, he could’ve worked harder on the pitch, and if he’d just had that engine and work ethic he could’ve been one of the very best strikers in history.

Berbatov left behind a strange legacy, an other-worldly talent who sometimes just didn’t fancy putting a shift in for his team.
