Report: Lampard set to hand surprise start to 'incredible' Everton player against Liverpool

It’s the big Merseyside derby tomorrow as Everton take on Liverpool and there could be a full debut for new Toffees signing, Neal Maupay.

The former Brentford striker has arrived at Goodison Park from Brighton as Lampard finally got himself another forward into the building before the deadline passed. Maupay will be looking to kick on after an impressive few seasons helping the Seagulls cement their PL status under Graham Potter.

And according to the BBC, Maupay will get the chance to impress Everton fans right away, with the striker set to start against Liverpool in the midday kick off.

It means the ‘incredible‘ striker will get the ideal chance to make an instant name for himself with Everton fans against their most bitter rivals. The Toffees will be hoping they can cause the Reds problems after seeing Jurgen Klopp’s side struggle for their very best form so far this term.

Of course, the 9-0 hammering of Bournemouth is a reminder for Lampard’s side of how good Liverpool can be. But the Toffees will be confident of an upset, with Maupay likely to be tasked with leading the charge.

TBR’s View: Maupay Needs Fast Everton Start

Neal Maupay’s problem really is that he knows Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be the main striker when he is fully fit. With that, Maupay needs to play well and get goals quickly to cement himself in the first XI.

He is more than capable on his day and he did well for Brighton, without ever being as prolific as he was at Brentford.

But there is a finisher in there and if Everton can indeed create chances and get in Liverpool’s face, then Maupay might just get the chance to make himself a hero from the get go.
