National media hails “9/10” international display from Tottenham teenager
Tottenham player Troy Parrott has been given big praise from national media after yesterday’s performance.
The 19-year-old forward is returning to Spurs ahead of next season after a difficult time out on loan.
He flopped in the first half of the 2020/21 campaign with Millwall and ended up dropping down to League One to play with Ipswich Town.
Despite his club troubles, the Spurs-owned frontman is part of the Republic of Ireland squad.
The Irish teenager start during Thursday’s 4-1 victory away to Andorra in the international friendly. He was given a 9/10 rating by Irish media because he turned out to be the match-winner.
Ireland surprisingly went behind against Andorra early in the second half, but Parrott scored two goals inside three minutes to make it 2-1. Jason Knight and Daryl Horgan added late goals to make sure of the win in the international friendly.
“Cut a frustrated figure for much of the first hour, dropping deeper and deeper in search of the ball. But then he won Ireland the game with two moments of varied, brilliantly incisive, centre-forward play,” wrote the Irish Times.
Tottenham need to find right loan for Parrott
Parrott has had a quiet season scoring just twice in 32 games across his two loan spells. However, he’s shown in the past his quality.
The centre-forward was previously a goal machine at youth level with the north London club.
His job now is to try replicate that on the senior stage, and his two goals last night against Andorra should be a massive lift for him.
