Napoli could now move for ‘brilliant’ Tottenham player if Radu Dragusin joins Spurs

Napoli could reportedly make a move for Eric Dier if Tottenham win the race to sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

The Romanian international is closing in on a move to north London, with Tottenham currently in talks with the Serie A side to finalise a deal for the 21-year-old centre-back.

With Napoli also reportedly interested in Dragusin, the reigning Serie A champions are keeping their options open in the event they miss out on the defender.

And according to Il Mattino, Napoli could make an attempt to sign Dier, who this season has hardly featured under Ange Postecoglou with Tottenham overhauling their defensive options this summer.

Once lauded as a ‘brilliant’ defender, many Spurs fans would argue that Dier should have left north London some years ago, with the centre-back a current shadow of his former self.

Yet it now appears that Napoli could offer Tottenham and Dier an escape route, with the capture of Dragusin the potential catalyst for such a transfer.

Dragusin is clearly going to be quite the upgrade on Tottenham’s current reserve options in the centre-back position if the transfer can be completed.

And for many fans, the chance to also sell Dier for good this window could be almost too good to be true, with the England international needing to be moved on for quite some time.

Indeed, it’s rare a transfer can cause so much change in a squad, yet Tottenham’s potential signing of Dragusin leading to the sale of Dier would do just that for the north London side.
