Nani gives his honest opinion on Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha at Man United

Nani has claimed that Manchester United duo Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha need time to adjust to the club, following on from their big-money transfers over the summer.

The pair joined from Brentford and Wolves, respectively, as the Red Devils looked to improve upon their attacking options.

Ruben Amorim struggled for goals last season, so the addition of two quality Premier League players to feature in the number ten roles came as quite a boost.

Mbeumo joined Man United for roughly £70 million, while Cunha made the move for £62.5 million as part of a summer of big spending.

Neither star has quite hit the ground running for Manchester United yet, with questions emerging on exactly when they will adjust.

Nani backs ‘quality’ Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha to improve at Man United

So far, neither Bryan Mbeumo nor Matheus Cunha have managed to continue their good form from last season.

The former has one goal and one assist in the Premier League this season, while the latter is yet to get off the mark in either department.

That is despite some better performances from the Red Devils when going forward and sustaining attacks.

For former player Nani, some of this could be down to the adjustment that each player needs.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, he said: “I think they will bring a lot of good things. Like I said, to play for Man United is not the same as playing for any team.

“There’s a lot of pressure, there’s a lot of history behind it. These players, they’ve got quality, they’ve got power, we know they can do something – but they need time.

“At the beginning of the season, you could see probably some stress, some pressure on top of them, some responsibility, you know. But once they stabilise, they’ll do what they know.”

There could be plenty more to come from the summer signings as they continue to ease their way into life at Manchester United.

So far, their impact has certainly shown in some interesting statistics.

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have increased Man United’s shot volume

Last season, Manchester United were nowhere near good enough when it came to their attacking.

With a new system in place and players who struggled to fit the system, Ruben Amorim could be somewhat forgiven for some poor results.

However, there is now an expectation after a summer of heavy spending, and it seems as though Man United are yet to fully click.

If there is one area where the summer signings have made an impact, though, it is in the overall shot volume.

Mbeumo has taken the second-most shots in the Premier League (17), only trailing Erling Haaland (29).

Cunha isn’t far behind (15), as both have proven they are more than happy to take a shot on.

This is an increase on last season, but it may not be an improvement, as they fire shots from everywhere.

Man United need to find that balance, getting both stars into good positions to shoot from.
