Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has labelled Roberto Firmino’s goal against Arsenal as one of his favourites – all thanks to Andy Robertson.

The Reds were made to work hard at the Emirates on Wednesday but they showed their class in the second half. Goals from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino in the space of eight minutes killed the game, and the Liverpool boss absolutely loved the Brazilian’s goal.

Speaking in his press conference yesterday, Klopp labelled Firmino’s goal against Arsenal on Wednesday as one of his favourites in recent years.

That’s not because the finish was brilliant, it’s actually because of Robertson, whose assist blew the German away.

Jurgen Klopp: Andy Robertson’s assist to Firmino was outstanding

Speaking in his press conference yesterday, Klopp said, as per Liverpool’s official website: “It’s the full package of Robbo. Not only as a player, but as a person as well. He really desperately wants to deliver and work for the team.

“The second goal was one of my favourite goals for a long, long time, to be honest. First, we win the ball back and then, second, Robbo is waiting with his cross until he saw Bobby is now ready for it.

“That was an incredible pass in the end. Of course, Bobby had to do a lot to get it past Ramsdale but the cross or pass was outstanding.

“Yes, he played a really good game and, thank God, it’s not the first one and I hope it’s not the last one.”

Robertson has been a tremendous player for Liverpool since he joined them from Hull City back in 2017.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gets a ton of credit for his assists from right-back and rightly so, but what Robertson does on the opposite side is just as good, if not better.

The 28-year-old Scotsman’s assist against Arsenal was his 13th of the season. That is an outrageous return for a defender and Klopp knows better than anyone else how good he is.

Robertson is expected to get a breather tomorrow when Liverpool play Nottingham Forest. But, if Klopp needs him, he knows he can count on the former Hull City man to come in and deliver.
