Aston Villa were briefly linked with Arsenal playmaker Emile Smith Rowe earlier this summer.
However, the Villans were always going to find it difficult to sign a player the Gunners rate so highly.
Villa reportedly made two bids for the Arsenal ace, with the second offer reaching £30million.

And despite being knocked back, they apparently believed there was a deal to be done for Smith Rowe.
But as per The Athletic, Mikel Arteta made clear after the Hibs friendly that the 20-year-old “will stay here, 100 percent”.
And now, Smith Rowe has penned a new long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium.
However, some Villa fans aren’t too bothered, amid reports linking the claret and blue side with Leon Bailey.

Sky Sports reported on Wednesday that Villa are pursuing the Bayer Leverkusen star.
Bailey has scored 39 goals and set up another 26 in more than 150 appearances for Leverkusen since signing from Genk in 2017.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Everton reportedly wanted the Jamaica winger last year.
With that in mind, here’s what some Villa fans made of the Smith Rowe contract news:
