'More than a talent': Fabrizio Romano says reported Leeds striker target is an absolute 'jewel'
Leeds United have been linked with Red Bull Salzburg’s Noah Okafor in recent days.
However, Leeds aren’t the only club reportedly looking to make a move for Okafor.
As well as the Elland Road outfit, the likes of Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are in pursuit.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to say “many clubs” are following the Switzerland international.
The transfer insider lauded Okafor, saying he’s “more than a talent” and deeming him a “jewel”.
Two Champions League goals and seven from 12 outings in all competitions (plus two assists) is pretty impressive.
Okafor has also won seven trophies already – three Austrian titles, three Austrian Cups and one Swiss Cup.
At just 22, the young Swiss is an incredible prospect who’s due a step up in his career.
Admittedly, Inter and Dortmund would be stiff competition for Leeds.
However, the Elland Road outfit has several aces up their sleeves.
The main one is that Jesse Marsch was in charge of Salzburg when Okafor joined from Basel.
And obviously, Leeds have now signed two of his former teammates in Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.
Leeds could certainly do with bolstering their attacking ranks further in January.
While Wilfried Gnonto is a great talent, he’s more one for the future and seems unlikely to play a key role this term.
Okafor is a great shout for Leeds, but they’ll have a lot of work to do if they are to secure his signature.
