Mohamed Salah has an impeccable track record of facing Manchester United throughout his Liverpool career.
The Egyptian scored in both fixtures last season. Despite Liverpool struggling against United at Anfield, his 70th-minute penalty ensured the hosts would share the spoils in the 2-2 draw.
However, the Reds are in desperate need of a result at Anfield, having lost three consecutive matches across all competitions heading into the international break.
This is the first time Arne Slot has boasted such an unexemplary record since succeeding Jurgen Klopp, and he is facing the most pivotal moment of his tenure thus far.

Ruben Amorim has a respectable record against top six opposition, but Salah has the opportunity to etch his name among legends on Sunday and embarrass the Reds’ fiercest rivals in the process.
Mohamed Salah can join illustrious Premier League list
According to the club’s official website, Salah can become the first player in Premier League history to reach 20 goal contributions against United.
The 33-year-old already has the most goal involvements against the Red Devils of any other player, but should he record a goal or assist on Sunday, he will join a list of greats.
Les Ferdinand, Alan Shearer, Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney, and Frank Lampard are the other names to achieve such a feat.
Salah rediscovered his best form on international duty with Egypt, but the forward has massively underwhelmed in the new-look Liverpool regime.

Despite registering three goals and three assists in his opening nine outings, he has declined compared to last year’s efforts – Salah had five goals and five assists at this stage last season.
And this is largely down to his decision-making on the pitch – Paul Scholes said Salah makes the worst decisions after he spurned several crucial chances during the 2-1 loss against Chelsea last time out.
However, he is facing arguably the best opponent to rectify his fortunes, after failing to make an impact in his opening four matches against United, he has failed to record a goal contribution only twice in the last 13 fixtures.
Mohamed Salah finds it easy to face Manchester United
While the match between the sides almost ended in disaster for the Reds at Anfield, the reverse fixture at the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign was far more straightforward.
Ex-Liverpool forward Luis Diaz scored a brace at Old Trafford with Salah providing the assists for both goals and adding one of his own in the 3-0 win.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the result, Salah said Liverpool could have scored more and was surprised by how easy United made life for the visitors.
“To be fair, I was surprised (how easy it was), because the game was open, and we knew that after the first half they were 2-0 down so would come and try to play man mark and run behind us in the whole pitch.
“I agree with you, I was a little surprised. The game could have finished five or six.”
