Yerry Mina has urged his Everton teammate James Rodriguez to stay at the club.
What’s the story?
The former Real Madrid attacker has been linked with an exit from Goodison Park this summer. It was claimed a few weeks back that Porto and AC Milan are trying to get a deal completed for the ace.
However, appearing alongside his fellow countryman, Mina told Rodriguez to remain at the club. The centre-half claimed he and his teammate could make history with the Blues and their country.
The former AS Monaco ace has been linked with a move after the exit of Carlo Ancelotti. The man who convinced him to move to Goodison Park left to return to Los Blancos.
When talking about Rodriguez, Mina said on his teammate’s Twitch stream (AS Colombia): “I want you to stay here (Everton); we are going to make history here and in the national team. We are going all out.”
Everton will be handed a boost if they can keep Rodriguez
It is easy to see why the £12m attacker joined the club last summer.
He had both a former manager and one of his fellow countrymen at the club.
Couple that with the fact money was being spent freely, and it made the Blues a fairly attractive prospect.
However, with Ancelotti having left, it would be easy to see why Rodriguez would want to follow his lead. But, in Mina, there is still hope of keeping the Everton magician.
Playing with close friends is most certainly an attraction in football nowadays. Just look at Cristian Romero, who has commented on Giovani Lo Celso’s influence on him joining Tottenham.
And if they can keep Rodriguez, it will be a massive boost for Everton, who may have Mina to thank.
