Romero shares what Lo Celso told him about Tottenham in private chat just before he joined

Cristian Romero has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso helped convince him to join the club, on the Lilywhites’ official Youtube channel.

Romero and Lo Celso know each other well from international duty with Argentine, and it seems that the central defender was in contract with the Tottenham man when Nuno’s side tried to buy him from Atalanta.

Romero has now made the move to Spurs, in what looks their most important signing of the summer so far.

And Romero says that Lo Celso’s words helped convince him that the switch to Tottenham was the right one for him.

“Yes, ever since Gio knew about the interest from the club he started explaining to me how big the club is and how marvellous things are here,” Romero said.

“I think I’ve made the right choice and I hope to leave my mark here.”

Romero’s arrival is actually expected to have a transformative impact on Tottenham’s backline.

The powerful central defender is likely to be thrown straight into Tottenham’s starting line-up when he is fully fit.

Unfortunately for Spurs, Romero was carrying a knock when he first joined – but he is expected to train with his teammates for the first time soon.

It may now be too late for Romero to feature for Tottenham against Manchester City on opening day, but it is expected to be only a matter of time before the 23-year-old is playing a key role for Nuno’s side.
