Report: Leeds could now break their transfer record and land 'fantastic' player thanks to Chelsea star
Leeds United could finally move into pole position to land Belgian striker Charles De Ketelaere, with AC Milan focussing on Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.
The Whites have been tracking De Ketelaere all summer and it was only reported a few days back how Leeds had indeed bid above Club Brugges asking price for the striker. Of course, Leeds have had to keep one on eye on AC Milan throughout this transfer chase, with the Italian champions keen to sign the Belgian.
However, Calciomercato has reported that Milan could be about to turn their full attention to signing Ziyech from Chelsea for now, with the Serie A giants apparently unwilling to meet the asking-price for De Ketelaere as things stand.
CM reports how Milan are ready to no focus their efforts on Ziyech and, in turn, open the door for Leeds to move to the front of the queue to land De Ketelaere.
It’s believed Leeds would be willing to pay more than £30m for the striker, a move which would see them break their own transfer record in the process.
TBR’s View: De Ketelaere Can Complete Leeds’ Summer
The losses of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips will weaken this Leeds side but you have to take your hats off to the Leeds board with how they’ve spent this summer.
Jesse Marsch has been fully backed and it’s been a busy old summer for the Whites so far. They do, however, still find themselves without a readymade Patrick Bamford replacement or challenger. In De Ketelaere, they’d be getting just that.
MIlan have opened the door here it seems for Leeds and if ever there was a time for the Whites to strike, then that time is now.
