Arsenal showcased why their one of the favourites for the upcoming Premier League season with a 4-1 demolition job against Bayer Leverkusen.
The Gunners were in full flow against the Bundesliga champions with an incredible performance from the north London side, with Xabi Alonso noting what Mikel Arteta has done for Arsenal in the past few years as manager.
With the new campaign just one week away, Arsenal already look in good form ahead of a season where supporters will be keen to see the north London side finally go all the way in the race for the Premier League title against Manchester City.
And Arteta has now shared an injury update surrounding one of Arsenal’s key players for the new term.

Arteta reveals Jurrien Timber’s latest injury problem after Arsenal win
Speaking to the press after Arsenal’s win against Leverkusen, Arteta revealed the extent of Jurrien Timber’s new injury, with the defender missing out alongside new signing Riccardo Calafiori.
With Timber reportedly suffering a foot injury, the £38m defender is unlikely to be out for too long, with the former Ajax star spending all of last season out on the treatment table after suffering an ACL injury.
Indeed, Timber has been hailed as Arsenal’s best player this pre-season, and Arteta has now shared an update on the defender’s fitness, which appears to be good news for supporters of the Emirates Stadium side.
Arteta said on Timber’s injury: “With Jurrien, he had a little discomfort in his foot the last few days. After the amount of time he has been out, we did not want to take any risks with him.”

Timber will be massive for Arsenal next season
Timber missing all of last year was certainly not in the plan for Arsenal, with the defender clearly signed to play a big role for the north London side under Arteta.
Yet heading into the new season almost at full health, Timber will finally be ready to play the role he was destined for at Arsenal, with the former Ajax man expected to be a regular for the Gunners.
Indeed, exciting times are around the corner for Arsenal in the new season, and Timber will play his part in Arteta finally going all out for the Premier League title after two failed attempts.
